The School of Science and Mathematics at Emporia State University is seeking an individual with excellent teaching and collaborative skills for the position of Program Coordinator and Instructor. This position is a full-time, 9-month appointment and reports to the Dean of the School of Science and Mathematics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Program Coordinator and Instructor will direct the Science and Mathematics Recruitment of Teachers for the 21st Century (SMaRT KS 21) program. The primary duty of this position is to manage the funds allocated to this program for scholarships, paid internships, and activities.  In addition, the Program Coordinator & Instructor will liaison with area schools and teachers to promote science and math education as a career, serve as an additional faculty advisor and student teacher observer, provide or facilitate tutor training, develop and/or support activities, and collaborate with Marketing and Admissions to aid recruitment efforts.   
  • Additional duties will involve teaching, co-teaching, or guest lectures in introductory and teaching methods courses in sciences and mathematics. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or 18 hours in the discipline of chemistry, physics, earth science, biology, mathematics, science education, mathematics education, or related field

  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant teaching experience at the secondary level in Chemistry or Biology; college science teaching experience; experience planning, coordinating, and implementing science outreach events, OR a Ph.D. in science or math education

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary:  $50,000 - $70,000 in an annual basis. Opportunities for summer stipends are also available.  
  • Qualifications and previous experience will be considered for placement of base rank and salary.
