Emporia State University’s Teachers College invites applicants for a nine-month, full time, tenure track Assistant Professor position in Secondary Education.

The position will be tenure track, campus-based assistant professor position in our CAEP accredited secondary education program. There is an option to offer the position as non-tenure track appointment with teaching and service responsibilities without scholarship responsibilities.


The appointment will commence in August 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful applicant will teach a variety of courses in secondary education. Assigned courses may include secondary classroom management, teaching in the secondary education classroom, observation and supervision of student teachers, and other similar courses.
  • The position will include teaching and supervision of student teaching interns in Emporia with some possible online courses. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications: 

  • A Master’s degree in a secondary education field
  • Five or more years of successful middle level and/or high school level teaching experience in an accredited school
  • Strong background in instruction and learning environments with emphasis on educational psychology, teaching and learning with mobile technology, classroom management, foundations of education, and assessment. 
  • Current teaching license at middle/high school level or previously held a valid teaching license


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in secondary education or related degree
  • Experience teaching secondary education majors at the graduate and undergraduate level
  • Experience supervising preservice teachers in field experiences
  • Experience in interdisciplinary or integrated studies
