The Psychology program at Emporia State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track  position, to begin August 2024. We are seeking an Experimental Psychologist or Behavioral Neuroscientist with specialization in biological psychology, psychophysiology, health psychology, neuroscience, or ethology, broadly defined. We are seeking a colleague who is passionate about undergraduate teaching, research, and mentorship.


The Psychology program has a newly renovated animal vivarium, suitable for research with rats and undergraduate coursework in operant conditioning. We encourage applicants who have experience conducting research in rodent models. We also encourage applicants with innovative ideas regarding the use of our vivarium.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise. Candidates should be able to teach some core program requirements, for example Learning & Cognition, Research Methods, Sensation & Perception, and Developmental Psychology. Candidates may also contribute electives in their area of specialization, for example Physiological Psychology, Drugs & Behavior.
  • Engaging in scholarly research on topics of expertise via peer-reviewed publications and academic presentations.
  • Supervising undergraduate student research.


  • The candidate in this position also could:
  • Mentor graduate teaching assistants.
  • Mentor students in the Experimental Psychology M.S. program.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field.

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary:  $54,000 - $65,300 in an annual basis.
  • Qualifications and previous experience will be considered for placement of base rank and salary.
