The Enrollment Management + Student Success (EMSS) Assistant Vice President (AVP) will serve as the number two for the EMSS division. Through a strong partnership and relationships between EMSS, Academic Affairs, Alumni, and the broader ESU community, the AVP provides leadership and support regarding the strategic re-recruitment, retention and student success initiatives and efforts at Emporia State University. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The position requires outreach and collaboration with deans, faculty, and academic departments to support educational efforts and retention, and develops reporting systems regarding retention and graduation data.
  • The AVP will also be responsible for specific programs, including the campus Parent Program and Retention Action Team.
  • This position will strengthen the Strategic Enrollment Management Plan by working to increase student retention and graduation rates for undergraduate students, and by providing support for recruitment and enrollment.
  • Identifying hurdles and barriers to student enrollment and success will be key to this position’s success.
  • The AVP will also provide direct leadership to 4+ departments (including Academic Advising, Career Services, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Academic Center for Excellence and Success) in the Enrollment Management and Student Success division and reports to the Vice President of Enrollment Management + Student Success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Master’s Degree plus 10+ years related experience in a student success/retention, student affairs or enrollment management area.
  • A commitment to inclusivity and access in working with students, colleagues, and other constituents is critical. The AVP must be able to demonstrate success in creating a student-centered, relationship-focused environment.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and critical-thinking skills; excellent communication abilities; and ability to exercise a high level of independent judgement are essential.
  • Ability to make sound decisions, demonstrate excellent analytical problem-solving skills, manage data, and effectively handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with a strong commitment to quality and student experience is the expectation.
  • Demonstrated experiences in creating student support systems that foster access, student success and growth is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing new and strong professional staff is necessary.


Preferred:

  • Doctoral degree; and Experience with enrollment management.
  • Spanish-speaker; Strong understanding of student development theories and practices.

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary: $92,000 - $105,000 annually
