The Vice President for Student Life is the senior administrator of the University responsible for campus efforts to develop an inclusive, mentored, and supportive campus community that promotes student’s intellectual and personal development, well-being, leadership, intercultural competency, and identity exploration.


The VPSL oversees student life functions that support student belonging, development, and learning outside the classroom, including Resident Life, Student Involvement, Counseling Services, Health Services, Student Conduct, Associated Student Government, and Orientation. The VSPL will develop collaborative relationships with other leaders, faculty, staff, and students to ensure the integration of operational and strategic initiatives centered around student life and student success across campus. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate and manage strategic planning and assessment efforts within Student Life to improve university access and student persistence and advance student learning, leadership and skill development, and enhancements to the student experience.
  • Serve as a highly visible and accessible leader working n collaboration with students, faculty, and staff as well as leadership of online and graduate student programs, with a commitment to the holistic development of students through programs and initiatives focused on fostering student engagement, civic engagement, well-being, and belonging.
  • Create and foster a culture of personal growth and development for Student Life staff, support them in implementing changes to service models, staffing, outreach, and other areas in response to evolving student needs.
  • Manage complex budgets; maintain an understanding of business operations and organizational systems; partner with University Foundation and others to seek external resources of private and grant funding. 
  • Provide advice and counsel to the President, represent the University and Student Life division on various community and University committees and task forces.
  • Maintain relationships and foster positive relations with the local community. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree and at least 10 years of student affairs or student success experiences. Doctorate preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of student development theory and practice with demonstrated success in leveraging analytics to achieve success.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work effectively with administrators, academic leadership, faculty, students, alumni, donors, community leaders, elected and appointed public officials, and members of the community at large. Successful candidates will be recognized leaders in student life, as demonstrated by membership in key organizations or presentations as key conferences.
  • Demonstrated success in building, developing, and maintaining an effective student life team. Mentorship, employee development, and performance management skills.

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary is projected $143,000-$229,378 annually.
