Elementary Education/Early Childhood/Spec Education

Emporia State University’s Teachers College is seeking applications for two 9-month elementary education faculty positions. There will be two positions hired from this search. Both positions will be tenure track, assistant professor positions in our CAEP accredited elementary education program. Positions will be based either on campus in Emporia, KS or at our Kansas City area campus.

There is an option to offer the positions as non-tenure track appointment with teaching and service responsibilities without scholarship responsibilities. The appointment will commence in August 2024. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful applicant will teach a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in elementary education. Assigned courses may include classroom management, differentiation, general elementary curriculum and instruction courses, and/or elementary methods courses specific to their area of expertise. The successful applicant will also supervise student teaching interns in Professional Development Schools. 
  • The positions will include teaching face-to-face and/or online courses at one of our campuses in Emporia and/or Kansas City, depending on location of applicant and needs of the program. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in an elementary education field
  • Five or more years of successful K-6 teaching experience in an accredited school
  • Training in research-based approaches to teach courses related to elementary curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Current teaching license at K-6 level or previously held a valid K-6 teaching license

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in an elementary education or related degree
  • Experience teaching elementary education majors at the graduate and undergraduate level
  • Experience supervising preservice teachers in field experiences


Applicants in a doctoral program with an identified completion date are encouraged to apply. The successful application who does not possess a doctorate at the time of appointment will be hired as an instructor until successful completion of the degree.
