Cybersecurity Data Center Manager and Instructor

Emporia State University, Cybersecurity Research and Outreach Center, or CyROC invites nominations and applications for the position of Instructor and Data Center Manager in the School of Business & Technology with an expected start date of on or before July 1, 2024. This position is a 12 month, in person contract.


The School will consider qualified candidates who can teach courses from among the disciplines represented in the School. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Screening will continue until the position is filled. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Detailed responsibilities include two main functions: instruction and data center management. 

  • Instructor and Data Center Manager will provide leadership, strategic direction, and operational support for CyROC programs in the school. Efforts include creating a student-friendly and supportive environment, management of the CyROC data center lab.
  • Course load: 4-5 classes per year
  • The position will collaborate with faculty and maintain a partnership with the University’s IT team to ensure curriculum, programs, learning goals, and related activities meet expectations by monitoring the lab and its contents.   
  • The position will serve as a member of the IT Server team, supporting enterprise-class server and storage systems. The position is the primary system administrator for Windows and Linux-based servers. 
  • Oversee the establishment and expansion of operating systems, software programming, and alteration of operating systems, performance testing, physical hardware firmware, virtualization, advanced networking concepts, database administration and upkeep, computer protection. 
  • Designs, architects, and maintains enterprise platforms such as VMWare, NetApp, Microsoft Office 365, as well as an identity management platform. 
  • Other duties as assigned and must be adaptable to grow with CyROC and the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The position requires a master’s degree from a professionally accredited school in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Relevant industry standard certifications such as A+, MCSE, MCP may substitute for one year of work experience each, up to two years.
  • 3-5 Years experience as a system administrator.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Candidates must have a personal and professional commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Emporia State’s AACSB-accredited School of Business & Technology. 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Industry experience 5-10 years in a systems administration role.
  • Teaching experience

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary:  $60,000 - $100,000 annually.
  • Qualifications and previous experience will be considered for placement of base rank and salary.
