The Emporia State University Student Wellness Center is seeking an individual with excellent clinical and outreach skills for the position of Assistant Director of Accessibility/Counselor in Counseling and Accessibility Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Assistant Director of Accessibility/Counselor collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to create usable, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable learning environments.
  • The Office of Student Accessibility Support Services is committed to supporting Emporia State University as a non - discriminating campus for qualified students with disabilities as mandated by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and its amendments (2008).
  • The Assistant Director of Accessibility/Counselor also provides high quality, compassionate, and ethical outpatient psychotherapy to students individually and in groups to help them manage symptoms related to mental health that affect their ability to be successful academically and graduate.
  • The Assistant Director of Accessibility/Counselor reports directly to the Senior Director of Mental Health, Counseling and Accessibility within the division of Enrollment Management and Student Success. This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy; licensure with the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as a psychotherapist and more than one year of related experience.


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in addition to candidates who have experience in assessing, implementing, and overseeing accommodation plans in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines; experience with adaptive software and assistive technology; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups including students, faculty, administrators, and external service.
