Emporia State University (ESU) invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured nine-month position in computer science beginning in August 2024. The successful candidate will hold the rank of assistant or associate professor. The position involves teaching seven courses per academic year during the Fall and Spring semesters.


The position is housed in the AACSB-accredited School of Business and Technology, which is also considering pursuing accreditation for its CS program. The selected candidate will be essential in helping us grow our cybersecurity curriculum while closely collaborating with the Director of our newly inaugurated Cybersecurity Research and Outreach Center (CyROC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • An earned doctoral degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field) from a regionally accredited school is required. Primary teaching areas include but are not limited to Cybersecurity, Computer Programming, Computer Theory, and Application Development courses in undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • An ongoing research agenda in the Cybersecurity domain is also expected. However, applicants from other research areas are also encouraged to apply.
  • Relevant teaching experience, including online instruction and industry experience, is a plus. The successful candidate must exhibit potential for excellence in teaching, active research, scholarly activities leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals, and grant writing and management.
  • The selected candidate is also expected to contribute to the School, the University, and the broader community.
  • Finally, post-doctoral experience with writing and managing grants is highly desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • An active research agenda in the discipline.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous or current post-doctoral experience in Computer Science (Cybersecurity).
  • Relevant teaching experience in face-to-face or online modalities.
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Professional certificates relevant to Computer Science/Cybersecurity.

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary:  $80,000 - $100,000 in an annual basis.
  • Qualifications and previous experience will be considered for placement of base rank and salary.
