Project Manager

Emporia State University is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our Information Technology (IT) team. The successful candidate will work with IT directors to support and document projects within the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and project implementation plans, including risk mitigation
  • To coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring projects remain within scope, schedule, and defined budgets, in collaboration with project staff from various functional departments
  • Analyze project progress and, when necessary, adapt scope, timelines, and costs to ensure that project team adheres to project requirements
  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with at least 5(five) years of experience.
  • Industry standard certifications such as: PMP, CAPM, or other relevant certification may substitute for 2 years work experience each, up to 4 years
  • Relevant years of experience in IT budget and project planning can be substituted for education



Preferred:

  • Significant coursework or work experience in managing and maintaining a portfolio of projects
  • Significant coursework or work experience in project management
  • Significant coursework or work experience in budgeting or financial accounting
  • Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, good morale, and cooperative environment with other IT team members
  • Strong communication skills to assist different people at various technical levels throughout the campus
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong work ethic (e.g., dependable, professional) and proven ability to work in an environment involving tasks that require strict confidentiality.
