Emporia State University is seeking applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position is available in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Emporia State University, Emporia, KS. The position begins in August 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation seeks an individual who is innovative and self-motivated to direct and facilitate the continued growth of the undergraduate Sport Leadership and Recreation program.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate teaching excellence in discipline-specific courses. Further expectations as coordinator will be knowledge of curriculum development, collaboration with university departments and programs, as well as assisting with recruitment, retention, and a strong commitment to mentoring and advising students. Engagement in scholarly activity (e.g., articles, grants, etc.) and investment in departmental, university, and professional service are also expected. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • Preferred qualifications include a completed doctorate in a sport industry or recreation field. Preference will be given to those with experience in sport leadership, sport administration, sport management, or recreation. Individuals who are ABD will be considered.

  • Salary is commensurate to education and experience.
