Emporia State University’s Teachers College invites applications for a 9-month education faculty position with an emphasis in social studies education. This position will be a tenure track, campus-based position in our CAEP accredited elementary education program.

This tenure track appointment includes teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities. The appointment will commence in August 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The successful applicant will teach a variety of courses in elementary education concentrated on the content of elementary social studies. The position will involve teaching social studies methods and other courses related to elementary education at the undergraduate and graduate level and supervision of student teachers.
• Other teaching responsibilities may be assigned based on the education and professional experience of the candidate.
• The position will include teaching face-to-face and online courses at the campus in Emporia with possible travel to for teaching at our distance sites in Wichita and Kansas City. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

• Master’s degree in education in Curriculum and Instruction, Education, or related degree.
• Five or more years of teaching experience at the PreK-6 grade level at an accredited school. Must include some teaching experience the content of social studies.
• Training in research-based approaches to teach courses related to elementary education.
• Current teaching license in at the elementary education level or previously held a valid elementary education teaching license.

Preferred

• Preference will be given to applicants who hold a Curriculum and Instruction doctorate degree with an emphasis in social studies education or a related doctorate with an emphasis in social studies.
• Experience teaching elementary social studies education courses, social studies for elementary education majors
• Experience supervising education students in field experiences.
