Emporia State University is seeking a full-time Custodial Manager to lead the Building Services team located in Emporia, KS. 


The Custodial Manager supervises and maintains custodial services for assigned areas of the University campus at Emporia State University.  Ensures a positive first impression and high standard of appearance with a clean and friendly environment.


This role serves as the primary point of contact for other university departments regarding Building Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervisor and train custodial staff, ensuring a safe and clean environment
  • Manage personnel scheduling and events calendar and delegate staff accordingly
  • Establish a team environment that fosters a culture of safety and quality
  • Conduct regular supervisor meetings and training sessions.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Review job applications and participate in interviews.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • Valid driver's license required due to job duties involving the use of motorized vehicles.


Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a custodial management role within an educational institution.
  • Familiarity with software systems for scheduling and inventory management.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience with budget management and cost control.
  • Proficiency in additional software tools beyond the required Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards in custodial services.


Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift or maneuver 50+ pounds 
  • Standing or walking for 7 or more hours per shift 
  • Movements that require manual dexterity, trunk strength, wrist-finger movement, twisting, bending, pushing, and pulling
