Vice President for Enrollment Management

Emporia State University is looking for a highly qualified candidate to serve as the Vice President for Enrollment Services. This person is the senior administration of the University and is responsible for recruitment and retaining the students who come to ESU.


The Vice President of Enrollment Services will oversee the following offices: Registration, Financial Aid, Professional Advising, and Career Services. They will work collaboratively with Diversity + Inclusion, Finance, Operations, Student Success, Athletics, and others to develop and execute strategic and operational enrollment management plans.


The VP will collaborate with the other campus leaders on student success initiatives that promote retention and graduation, and to develop successful pipeline programs that enable the university to reach its strategic goals. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Focused on the University’s mission, vision, and strategic goals, lead the Division of Enrollment Management and cultivate collaborative relationships with university colleagues and external constituencies to ensure consistent strategic enrollment management success.
  • Informed by data and analytics, professional experience working collaboratively with the schools and colleges, Diversity + Inclusion, Finance, Operations, Student Success, Athletics, and other divisions to develop and execute strategic and operational enrollment management plans that meet or exceed strategic goals while ensuring cohesion across the enrollment management continuum from precollege programs through admissions, yield, and graduation.
  • Regularly review progress towards the goals of the strategic enrollment plan, ensuring that the division’s human and financial resources are deployed effectively and efficiently to achieve tactical and operational goals; analyze, evaluate, and report data in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness related to the enrollment pan and initiatives, and adjust strategies based on that analysis; recommend resource allocation strategies to achieve goals.
  • Collaborate with the other campus leaders on student success initiatives that promote retention and graduation, and to develop successful pipeline programs that enable the university to reach its strategic goals.
  • Develop and manage student financial assistance programs that address the University’s enrollment priorities, from admission through retention and graduation; work with Development and Alumni Relations to create scholarship programs that will be supported by fundraising to help meet strategic enrollment goals.
  • Work with admissions and the colleges to ensure that the first impressions prospective students have of the University are first-rate and high touch; campus contacts and visits need to be of the highest possible caliber, balancing student volunteer, faculty, and staff involvement to deliver accurate information, create prospective student attachment and optimize yield.
  • Engage faculty, staff, senior leadership, alumni, and students in the recruitment process, galvanizing the many constituencies of the University to join in helping realize enrollment goals.
  • Work to ensure seamless, customer-centered handling of issues that arise regarding registration, advising, financial aid, and student success balancing high touch with technological solutions as appropriate.
  • Continually assess and revise the organization, systems, processes, and procedures of the division of enrollment management to improve efficiency and effectiveness, evaluating peer strategies to remain competitive,
  • Ensure effective management of budget, personnel, technology, and workflow for the division. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree and at least 10 years of student affairs or student success experience. Preferred experience in enrollment management, career services, financial aid, and professional advising; Doctorate preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of student development theory and practice with demonstrated success in leveraging analytics to achieve success.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work effectively with administrators. Academic leadership, faculty, students, alumni, donors, community leaders, elected and appointed public officials, and members of the community at large. Successful candidates will be recognized leaders in enrollment management, advising, financial aid, and career placement, as demonstrated by membership in key organizations, or presentations at key conferences.
  • Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated use of data, assessment, program review and evidence-based practices to inform analysis, development, and planning of initiatives, interventions and programs.
  • Demonstrable expertise and experience in best practices for policy and procedure, particularly enrollment management, student advising, financial aid, and career placement.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in building, developing, and maintaining an effective enrollment management team. Mentorship, employee development, and performance management skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
