Director of Theatre/Associate Professor

Emporia State University, School of Visual and Performing Arts, seeks a Director of its undergraduate theatre program. This is a twelve-month, tenure-track position at the rank of associate professor or professor. The position will begin June 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities include directing at least one production during the academic year and one during the summer theatre season, administration of an active theatre program (oversight of productions, budgeting, curriculum development and public relations) with three full-time faculty, two full-time staff positions, adjunct faculty, and a half-time teaching load (one to two courses per semester).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • PhD or MFA with strong teaching background
  • Expertise and experience directing musicals
  • Ability to teach Musical Theatre History
  • Record of achievement in recruitment
  • Record of developing and maintaining a theatre operational and production budget



Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Drama in Education pedagogy
  • Ability to teach Script Analysis
  • Record of university teaching excellence
  • Record of professional presentations and/or academic publications
  • Service to the profession


COMPENSATION:

  • Salary range is  $70,000-$75,000
