Elementary Education/Early Childhood/Special Education

Emporia State University’s Teachers College is seeking applications for one 9-month elementary education unified faculty position. This position will be a tenure track, campus-based assistant professor positions in our CAEP accredited elementary education program.


There is an option to offer this position as non-tenure track appointment with teaching and service responsibilities without scholarship responsibilities. The appointment will commence in August 2025. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful applicant will teach a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in elementary education unified or special education. Assigned courses may include survey of exceptionality, collaboration and strategies, differentiation, or special education assessment.
  • The successful applicant will also supervise student teaching interns in Professional Development Schools. 
  • The position will include teaching face-to-face and/or online courses at the campus in Emporia. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • A Doctorate degree in an elementary education, special education, or a related field. 
  • Five or more years of teaching experience in K-6 general and/or special education in an accredited school. Must include some teaching experience in special education.
  • Training in research-based approaches to teach courses related to elementary/special education curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Current teaching license at K-6 special education level or previously held a valid K-6 special education teaching license

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related degree
  • Experience teaching elementary education or special education at the graduate and undergraduate level
  • Experience supervising preservice teachers in field experiences

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary: $52,894 - $58,000  annually
  • Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
