The Emporia State University’s Department of Counseling is seeking an individual with excellent clinical and outreach skills for the position of Field Services Coordinator. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Department of Counseling’s field experience processes and work closely to support and advise students in their practicum and internship preparation and subsequent licensure experiences. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibilities of the position include:

  • Developing and maintaining partnerships and agreements with counseling agencies, k-12 schools, and other site placements;
  • Oversite of the site supervisor orientation and training website;
  • Assisting and advising students with field placement;
  • Managing data related to field experience including memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreements relevant to ESU and agency guidelines, licensure paperwork, and ensuring legal and ethical compliance with field placement partnerships and student clinical work;
  • Maintaining CACREP and CAEP accreditation compliance for field experience processes and documentation; and
  • Instructor of record for 1-3 practicum or internship courses per semester.


Specific duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Meet individually with students throughout their graduate studies to identify and align student preferences, dispositions, and needs with appropriate settings and site supervisors;
  • Outreach to community partners to establish appropriate internship sites at a variety of locations and settings;
  • Maintain a list of practicum and internship site placements with current contacts;
  • Conduct practicum and internship placement interviews in Fall, Spring, and Summer;
  • Collaborate with Lyon County Jail and similar detention centers to get lists of inmates seeking group and individual counseling;
  • Develop group counseling schedules for clients at Lyon County Jail, other similar detention centers, and ESU every semester;
  • In collaboration with program faculty, develop and update policy manuals, procedures, forms, and recordkeeping for practicum and internships in accord with accreditors, including a field services handbook for students and site supervisors;
  • Collect formative and summative evaluations of students' counseling performance and ability to integrate and apply knowledge during students’ practicum and internship;
  • Oversight of Time2Track or equivalent applications to maintain practicum and internship hours;
  • Orient students to file maintenance policies and procedures for counseling individuals and groups;
  • Oversee implementation of internship policies, procedures, and recordkeeping with students, site supervisors, and faculty supervisors;
  • Ensure client records are retained securely for seven years; and
  • Maintain permanent practicum and internship files and respond to inquiries.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

Counselor education program core or affiliate faculty members serving as individual/triadic or group practicum/internship supervisors for students in entry-level programs have:

  • Master’s degree in one of the concentrations (mental health, addictions, clinical rehabilitation, or school counseling).
  • Relevant certifications and/or licenses,
  • Relevant training for in-person and/or distance counseling supervision, and
  • Relevant training in the technology utilized for supervision.

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary: $48,084 - $50,000  annually
  • Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
