The Degree Analyst evaluates and awards undergraduate degrees along with admitting/processing Second Bachelor Applications
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, organize, and administer the operation of the Degree Analysis Office. Prioritize tasks to ensure that the work is accomplished efficiently and timely. Know and apply university policy and procedures regarding degree and graduation requirements.
- Make recommendations to supervisor to modify university policies that are no longer valid due to changes in higher education practices. Administer the Second Bachelor’s Degree function.
- Provide application and informational materials, counsel regarding degree requirements, and admit returning ESU students seeking to complete a second undergraduate degree.
- Plan for and project future operating needs of the Degree Analysis Office, projecting fiscal needs for equipment and supplies to support future operations and special projects. Recommend technological and/or procedural changes for the Registration Office to ensure compliance with university policy and to improve work processes.
- Manage the degree audit operation.
- Verify degree information for students who have applied to graduate, carefully check computerized degree audits for possible discrepancies and communicate those discrepancies with students and their advisors.
- Process course substitutions provided by the advisors. Collaborate with the transcript analyst in managing a functional and effective automated degree audit program.
- Update changes made to degree programs in the automated degree audit program.
- Organize, schedule and conduct training sessions for faculty/advisors on the intricacies of the degree audit, degree application, substitutions and waivers, and other computer tasks to assist in the advising process.
- Prepare a list of graduating students, identify the “honors” graduates, and coordinate information with the Office of Public Affairs and Marketing for printing the commencement program.
- Notify students with discrepancies, counsel those with graduation problems, and recommend options to resolve problems. Verify that each graduating student has met all graduation requirements and award degrees/diplomas.
- Notify students who did not meet graduation requirements.
- Disseminate graduation information to all appropriate individuals and offices and ensure that graduating student records are prepared for long-term storage.
- Assign, oversee, and proof student’s work. Responsible for the accuracy of work completed and dispersed by the student employee.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Registrar.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree and at least one year of experience working with audits, databases, or similar systems or directly related experience is required.
- Strong organization, oral and written communication skills as well as sound judgement, and the ability to work under pressure with an extremely high degree of accuracy are necessary.
- Professional experience in higher education is preferred.
COMPENSATION:
- Salary: $20.87 - $31.31 hourly
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
