Emporia State University is seeking a visionary, strategic, and results-driven Executive Director of Marketing to lead the university's brand development, marketing strategy, and promotional efforts. This position is responsible for building a dynamic, data-informed marketing operation that supports student recruitment, enhances institutional visibility, and strengthens brand reputation across all audiences-prospective students, alumni, donors, and the broader public.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive, integrated division strategy that aligns with institutional/ enrollment priorities and strike zone programs.
  • Oversee all marketing functions, including digital marketing, brand management, public relations, social media, events and outreach, and other duties as assigned.
  • Build and manage a high-performing marketing team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage all communications to ensure alignment with institutional tone and messaging.
  • Supervise marketing outsourced services and strategy execution.
  • Collaborate with campus and community stakeholders to support strategic campaigns and initiatives.
  • Develop initiatives that strengthen connections with students, alumni and community through events.
  • Utilize data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns, optimize marketing performance, and inform future strategies.
  • Manage marketing budgets, contracts with external vendors/agencies, and project timelines to ensure high-impact results on schedule and within budget.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to the Chief Marketing Officer on institutional positioning and reputation management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in marketing leadership.
  • Proven expertise in strategic planning, digital marketing, brand development, and team management.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with marketing technology platforms and performance metrics.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary:  $86,086 - $137,709 annually
  • Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
