Emporia State University (Emporia, KS) invites applications for the position of Director of International Recruitment. The position reports to the Executive Director of International Education and is a key member of the Office of International Education. The Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the university’s international student recruitment efforts. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing international enrollment strategies designed to attract, engage, and enroll students from around the globe.
The Director serves as a critical liaison to international partners and stakeholders, supports the development of institutional agreements, and uses data-driven decision-making to meet enrollment goals aligned with the university’s internationalization objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment Strategy & Activities (25%)
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop and implement comprehensive international student recruitment plans that align with institutional goals.
- Conduct domestic and international recruitment activities, including:
- Participation in education fairs, school visits, and EducationUSA advising center events.
- Meetings with U.S. embassies and consulates abroad.
- Virtual fairs, online recruitment events, and information sessions targeting prospective international students.
- Generate and nurture leads from multiple channels (events, web inquiries, partner referrals, etc.).
- Manage the application and placement processes for sponsored programs, coordinating with scholarship and government agencies.
- Ensure all recruitment and partnership activities comply with institutional policies and U.S. federal regulations.
- Stay up to date with immigration policies, international education trends, and competitive market insights.
Communication & Engagement (25%)
- Develop and execute targeted email, WhatsApp, and other digital marketing campaigns to build engagement across the admissions funnel.
- Collaborate with the university’s marketing team to create compelling and culturally relevant content for international audiences, including brochures, web pages, and video content.
- Oversee and regularly update content for the international section of the university website and OIE-managed social media platforms.
- Respond to inquiries from prospective students and families, providing personalized support through email and one-on-one virtual meetings.
- Manage new student communication flows post-admission to support yield and matriculation.
Partner & Agency Management (25%)
- Serve as the university’s primary contact for all international institutional and agent partners.
- Maintain regular communication with existing partners to optimize performance and ensure alignment with university standards and goals.
- Schedule and conduct annual travel to key partner institutions and agencies for relationship building, recruiting assistance, and evaluation.
- Vet new potential partners, oversee the development of MOUs and agent contracts, and coordinate internal approval processes.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and manage new international mobility agreements.
- Serve as the main point of contact for inbound exchange and visiting students from partner institutions and sponsored programs.
Data Analysis & Reporting (20%)
- Monitor global higher education and visa trends to inform recruitment strategies.
- Set international enrollment targets and track performance using funnel analysis and market-specific KPI’s.
- Maintain dashboards and generate reports for senior leadership on recruitment activities, enrollment progress, ROI, and conversion metrics.
- Use data insights to adjust recruitment strategies, reallocate resources, and improve yield and retention outcomes.
General & Institutional Responsibilities (5%)
- Support the admissions team by processing international applications or issuing immigration documents, including I-20 and DS-2019 forms, as necessary.
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), maintaining compliance with SEVIS and other federal regulations.
- Support international student arrival, orientation, and retention activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in international education, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred requirements:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in international student recruitment or international admissions.
- Experience with CRM systems and digital marketing tools.
- Ability to travel internationally 4-6 times per year.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Eligibility to serve as a DSO/ARO (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident).
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience managing international partnerships or agency networks.
- Proficiency in a second language and/or overseas study or work experience.
COMPENSATION:
- Salary: $55,297.00 annually
