Emporia State University’s School of Business is seeking applications for an Engagement and Retention Specialist in Emporia, KS. The Engagement and Retention Specialist in the School of Business advocates for and coordinates college-wide efforts to promote student engagement, persistence, and graduation while also promoting student success through advising students as they explore and identify business programs appropriate for their ability and educational and career goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitates coordinated efforts with University faculty, staff, and students, as well as external constituents, in order to plan and execute successful events (recruitment, onboarding, retention, donor, etc.). This includes budgeting for each event.
- Advise students about degree requirements, course selection, and academic policies.
- Maintain student records and monitor academic progress and performance of advisees.
- Help with outreach and retention initiatives. Participate in Black and Gold and other recruiting events.
- Complete administrative duties as required and assists with other student engagement and programming initiatives as assigned by the director the BizHornet Center.
- RSO Advisor for FBLA-Collegiate, Entrepreneur Club, and Beta Gamma Sigma.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a preference in business from an AACSB-accredited university or a closely related field with a preferred minimum of two years documented work experience with college-aged students. Work in Higher Education is preferred.
- Excellent written grammar skills
- Excellent electronic and face-to-face communication
- Proficiency with the use of technology such as databases, MS Office (especially excel), and Outlook e-mail/calendar
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business (preferably from an AACSB-accredited university), higher education, counseling, or student personnel
- Experience in higher education, and an understanding of higher education academic and administrative policies and procedures
- Knowledge of OnBase, Banner, Degree Works, and Cognos or other University-supported enrollment
COMPENSATION:
- Salary: $48,084.00
