Assistant/Associate Professor: Human Biology

Nine-month, tenure track position in School of Science and Mathematics, Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas, starting August 2025. Successful candidates will show potential for enthusiastic and outstanding teaching and scholarship.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The primary teaching/research emphasis of the position is human biology.
  • Teaching responsibilities include 12 contact hours per semester of undergraduate and master’s-level graduate courses.
  • The successful candidate will teach courses that complement strengths in the Biology-Healthcare program such as cadaver-based human anatomy & physiology and related courses.
  • The development of a robust research program with a focus that aligns with the mission of the National Institutes of Health and involves undergraduate and graduate students in healthcare-related majors and master’s programs is expected. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD completed prior to start date.
  • Prior experience teaching human physiology and related courses.
  • A research focus that aligns with the NIH mission “to advance scientific knowledge to improve health, extend life, and reduce illness and disability.”
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in, or the ability to teach endocrinology, human cadaver dissection, and/or immunology.
  • A research agenda that could utilize the newly developed human performance laboratory at ESU.
  • Demonstrated experience with innovative course design and evidence-based instruction.

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary: $61,500 - $82,000 annually
  • Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
