Emporia State University Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. Assist the Head Coach will all aspect of the Men’s Basketball program as requested. This includes: coaching, recruiting, match/tournament scheduling, student development, budget management, compliance with NCAA DII, and conference rules/regulations and community building. The Assistant Head Men’s Basketball Coach is also responsible for participating as a member of the college community and with all collaborative departmental functions as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate excellent teaching and coaching competencies with regard to:(a) sport skill instruction (b) motivation (c) tactical strategies (d) physical training and fitness in practices and competition.
- Design and execute a competitive schedule for intercollegiate contests (including practice planning) that maximizes individual and collective student-athlete development and performance, prioritizing conference play within an academically rigorous educational experience. Create team results that are competitive within the MIAA and NCAA. Along with the Strength & Conditioning staff, plan and implement the annual conditioning program. Work closely with Training Room personnel regarding prevention and rehabilitation of injuries.
- Successful recruitment, matriculation, retention, and graduation of student-athletes capable of attaining the baccalaureate and or a master’s degree in sufficient quantity to maintain a team roster appropriate for competitive success.
- Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Conference, Institute, and Department of Athletics rules, policies and expectations including commitment to lifelong learning, sportsmanship on and off the field of play, positive leadership and the desire and ability to act as a positive role model and representative of the Institute at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Knowledge of college Men’s Basketball and NCAA rules required. Minimum of five years of NCAA Division I and/or II collegiate coaching experience required. Proven ability to establish positive relationships with donors, alumni, former players, and local Men’s Basketball community essential. Proven ability to relate to high school and college-aged student-athletes essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred. College coaching experience at a NCAA Division I or II institution with NCAA post season experience strongly preferred. Competitive playing experience and fund-raising experience desirable.
COMPENSATION:
- Salary: $48,084.00 - $62,000.00
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
