Emporia State University is seeking a student-focused Learning Strategist to support the federally funded TRIO Student Support Services Disability program. The Learning Strategist promotes the academic success, retention, and graduation of students with disabilities by providing individualized academic support, academic advising, and learning strategy instruction. This position also assists students with financial aid applications and facilitates workshops that enhance student learning and self-advocacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide individualized academic coaching and teach learning strategies tailored to students’ strengths and accommodation needs.
- Develop and deliver workshops on study skills, time management, test preparation, and related topics.
- Advise students on course selection, degree planning, and academic progress.
- Assist students with financial aid processes, including FAFSA completion, financial literacy, and scholarship applications.
- Collaborate with Student Accessibility Support Services, faculty, and TRIO staff to support inclusive learning environments.
- Contribute to program planning, retention initiatives, and assessment activities to ensure compliance with TRIO federal grant objectives.
- Maintain accurate records of student contacts, progress, and outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in special education, counselor education, higher education, school counseling, human services, social work, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in higher education, teaching, advising, or administration.
- Knowledge of disabilities (physical, learning, and psychological) and accommodation processes.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with TRIO programs and federal grant compliance.
COMPENSATION:
- Salary: $48,084 - $50,500 annually
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
