The Department of Residential Life at Emporia State University is seeking applicants for the Complex Coordinator position. The Department of Residential Life strives to support the academic mission of Emporia State University by providing residents with assistance, connections, and opportunities to enhance their experience at Emporia State University.
As a member of the Residential Life Team, the Complex Coordinator will promote and activate the mission, vision, and values of the department. Reporting to the Director of Residential Life, the Complex Coordinator plays an integral leadership role in the operations and overall experience of residents in assigned residential communities.
Ideal candidates should be student-focused and have the ability to establish relationships, develop communities, implement training and accountability, communicate effectively, and oversee operations of assigned communities with excellent attention to detail. This is a 12-month, live-off position, and includes night and weekend responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Residential Experience:
- Oversee all aspects of the residential curriculum for assigned residential communities.
- This includes individualized and community support, social and educational experiences, and connections to campus, to optimize resident experiences and increase retention.
Building Management:
- Manage building operations for assigned residential areas. Review, update, and initiate processes to manage occupancy information, Reception Center operations, check-in and check-out processes, and inventories.
- Ensure a high standard of services and quality experiences for residents.
- Support summer camps and conferences.
- Work with facilities staff to coordinate building projects and serve as a liasion between facilities staff and residents.
Crisis Response:
- Serve as a member of 24/7 duty rotation.
- Provide initial crisis management, conflict mediation, and resources for students as needed.
- Refer students to and consult with appropriate agencies within the Emporia State community in a timely fashion.
- Initiate appropriate follow-up for students.
Staff Supervision and Training:
- Directly and indirectly supervise student staff (Resident Assistants and Reception Center Assistants) and Graduate Assistant.
- Directly supervise a Student Success Coach(s), professional staff position.
- Interview and select effective team members.
- Assist with the planning, implementation and assessment of staff training. Meet with team members 1:1 to provide support, direction, and accountability.
- Plan and facilitate weekly student staff meetings to complete administrative tasks, execute initiatives, and provide professional development.
Student Accountability and Support:
- Participate in and oversee processes for student accountability and support by reviewing incident reports, intentional conversations, and other reported information.
- This includes making wellness and academic referrals, upholding polices through the conduct process, completing informal check-ins, and addressing negative community behaviors.
- Uphold Title IX and Clery reporting guidelines.
Departmental Initiatives:
- Provide professionalism and support for the Residential Life team.
- Work with the Residential Life team on departmental initiatives such as recruitment, retention, move-in, move-out, and summer conferences.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders on behalf of Residential Life. Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree
- Ability to create spaces and relationships that support student success.
- Ability to serve on a 24/7 on-call duty rotation and respond to campus within 10 minutes.
- Capability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree or 6 years of related experience in lieu of degree
- Previous Residential Life, supervision, and community development experience.
- Prior experience with student development theory, staff training, and crisis management.
- Experience with StarRez and Maxient.
- Experience with residence hall operations and management.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation will be negotiable based upon education & experience
