Emporia State University is seeking an Assistant Director for the TRIO Student Support Services program in Emporia, KS. The Assistant Director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) will work with the Director of TRIO SSS to develop, plan, and implement support services which result in increased academic performance, retention, and graduation rates of program participants.


The assistant director provides advising, and teaches college success courses, and coordinates project recruitment and retention activities. This position also assists students with financial aid applications and facilitates workshops that enhance student learning and self-advocacy. This position is a full-time, 12-month, limited term benefits-eligible position

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the project related to delivery of services including recruitment of participants and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and supervise services.
  • Assist in meeting program objectives on persistence, retention, and graduation. 
  • Assist in maintaining federal compliance and regulations.


Teaching

  • Design and teach courses to assist participants to develop college success
  • Evaluate course content and learning objectives.


Student Support

  • Serve as an academic advisor for participants in the program.
  • Advise participants providing career development, personal issues, financial aid, and graduate school admittance.


Campus Collaboration 

  • Maintain appropriate communication TRIO SSS program and services offered.
  • Promote campus and community programs that benefit participants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or 6 years of related experience in lieu of degree
  • 3 years of professional experience administering programs serving students


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience academic advising, teaching and coordinates recruitment and retention services for students.
  • Familiarity with ESU organizational and offices on campus.
  • Familiarity with TRIO programs and federal grant compliance.


COMPENSATION:

Compensation will be negotiable based upon education & experience
