Emporia State University is seeking a dedicated and experienced law enforcement professional to serve as a University Police Officer within the University Police and Safety Department. This leadership position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure campus environment through patrol operations, incident response, law enforcement activities, and community engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patrol campus property and designated locations covered under the mutual aid agreement with the City of Emporia.
  • Enforce local, state, and federal laws to protect the safety and welfare of the University community.
  • Respond to calls for service, emergencies, and incidents requiring law enforcement assistance.
  • Provide customer service and assistance, including vehicle unlocks, jump starts, and other support as needed.
  • Help ensure campus buildings remain secure through building checks and coordination with student security personnel.
  • Assess and respond to campus facility and maintenance concerns during off-hours, contacting appropriate personnel when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license and must possess, or obtain within one year of hire, certification as a Kansas law enforcement officer through the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (CPOST). Successful candidates must be free of any felony conviction and domestic violence charges.

COMPENSATION:

Compensation will be negotiable based upon education & experience
